2010 WPS Draft

As yu may know, I’m the Web Coordinator at Women’s Professional Soccer – So I wanted to give quick update here from my department at the league office. First off, the 2010 WPS Draft will be held on Friday, January 15th at 10am in Philadelphia, PA, in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention. Here’s more information: http://www.womensprosoccer.com/Home/schedule/2010-wps-draft.aspx.

Importantly, to get all the draft selections in real time, you can follow @womensprosoccer on Twitter! I’ll be providing the Color Commentary in the Draft Room (TwitPics, etc.), while another League employee will be posting the draft selections.

Yesterday was officially the last day for players to register for the 2010 WPS draft, so we’re kicking the final planning into high gear. In case you’ve been away from your computer over the holidays, I wanted to keep you in the loop on a couple series of articles on the league website leading up to the big event.

Our content team, lead by the one and only Karyn Lush (@klush17 on Twitter) has worked to create this series of “Getting to Know” articles so you’ll have better insight into the players if/when they’re drafted. Here are the ones we’ve posted so far:
- Kelly O’Hara, Stanford
- Lauren Cheney, UCLA
- Alyssa Naher, Penn State
- Casey Noguiera, North Carolina

Rob Penner (@rdpenner on Twitter) our PR Director, has also been working with various soccer reporters to Rank the Top Prospective Picks by Position coming out of the NCAA, and we’ve started discussion forums to complement each article. Have your say in the Forums – Do you think the reporters are correct? Think you can make better predictions?
- Top Rated Midfielders | Forum
- Top Rated Defenders | Forum
- Top Rated Goalkeepers | Forum

Here’s a discussion forum that brings it all together:
Top 5 Prospects for the WPS Draft

There is certainly more to follow, so stay tuned to @womensprosoccer on Twitter.
