On Monday I posted up some information on a few upgrades I was getting done on my road bike: Bike Diva Upgrades her Road Bike.

Installing Bike Diva's New Gear
On Monday night, my husband was able to install my new Reynold's SDV66 deep dish carbon clincher wheels onto my Trek Madone 6.5. He placed the inner tubes and tires onto the deep dish carbon wheels, moved the gears from my old back wheel to the carbon back wheel and swapped out my old brake pads for the new carbon friendly brake pads.

Components Used
Brake pads - Swiss Stop Yellow King for carbon rims
Inner tubes - 700C x 18-23 mm presta valve 80mm by QTubes. a 80 mm valve stem looks slightly pornograhic. Is that a long valve stem for your new deep dish carbon wheels, or are you just happy to see me? Bike humor, either you're laughing or scratching your head and thinking WTF!?!
Tires - Michelin service course Pro 3 Race. In red of course, have to match the deep dish carbon wheels and the Trek Madone 6.5 frame.

I haven't actually had a chance to try out the new wheels yet. I was starting to feel ucky on Monday night, and ended up spending the last two days in bed, doing nothing.

More Upgrades
I usually go for a short bike ride on Thursday night, but my F1 Ceramic bearings just arrived. So I'll be taking my bike over to Bike America to have them swap out the old bottom bracket bearings for the new ceramic ones. So hopefully, I'll be able to pick up my bike tomorrow, so I can try out the carbon wheels and ceramic bearings over the weekend.

RIP Bontrager Race X Lite wheels?
Indian Giver or Give Me Back My Old Wheels
My husband thinks he's stealing my old wheels to use on a bike he's building with his old Cannondale frame and a bunch of parts we have lying around. Frankenbiker? Sounds good in theory, but he can't have them. The Bontrager Race X Lite wheels are a REALLY good set of wheels. Using them to build up a bike, that is either going to be sold, or shipped out to Texas just ain't gonna happen. They are my wheels and I'm keeping them.
Deep dish carbon wheels don't have to best braking power, so I'm thinking anytime I want to do a really hilly ride, like Tahoe, that I'll want to put my regular wheels back on. We switched to a different set of gears for the Tahoe ride we did on June 7. So I still have the original, compact gears that came with the Trek. I can install that set of gears back onto the Bontrager wheels. So it will be an easy swap out anytime I want to switch from the Reynold's back to the Bontrager wheels.
