Expect another update before night’s end but here’s the first batch:
- As has been reported earlier, WPS has launched a Fantasy League. Also, Amway will be FC Gold Pride’s shirts sponsor for the 2010 WPS season. Head over to The Equalizer for more details on these two items.
- Check out the video highlights of last night’s WNT 1-0 victory over Mexico:
- SBFC defeated UConn 5-0.
- The Chicago Red Stars defeated Nortwestern 2-0 and DePaul 4-0 yesterday. Ella Masar scored a brace in the first match with Cristiane assisting in each goal. In the second match Sitch, Weissenhofer, Klein and Cristiane all heaped goals on De Paul.
- This is a few days old, but When Saturday Comes has published an insightful article about the earnest (and perhaps dubious) attempt by the FA to launch a Women’s Super League.
- More European World Cup Qualifying results to be updated with, but thus far Denmark hammered Georgia 7-0 today and the Netherlands defeated home side Slovakia 1-0 with an Annemieke Kiesel-Griffioen goal in injury time.
- The Dutch victory is a proper sending-off to Coach Vera Pauw, who announced her resignation from the Oranje several days ago, citing disagreements with the KNVB. Apologies for the goofy Dutch to English translation.
- This is also a few days old, but Anna Kessel of The Guardian has reported that the resignation of Ian Watmore as FA Chief Executive is bad news for women’s football.
- England and Spain have kicked off at the Den and Katie Chapman has taken helped England take the lead in the 32nd minute. Find the starting lineups and scoring summary here.
Match reports, more European results, SBFC/UConn match reports, final WPS player rosters, updated tables for WC Qualifying and player ratings for WNT/Mexico are incoming….eventually…
