5.) Can Sky Blue FC Recover From Last Week’s Demolition Job?

Shame they’re playing away to FC Gold Pride. Going back to mid-May, SBFC have been on a fairly inconsistent streak lately, as they’ve managed just 5 points out of a possible 15. But hey, at least they’ve got Karen Bardsley back. And a few Sky Blue players will also have the All-Star Game to look forward to next week. And then there’s that meeting between the team and uh, who was it again? Oh, that’s right, Barack Obama. That should cheer them up a bit.

4.) Is Philadelphia Really 2nd Best in the League?

The Washington Freedom would probably have a thing or two to say about that. But the Indies/Cheesesteak/PHIIND will likely be looking for revenge against a Freedom team that defeated them 2-1 in late May. The team will also be coming off of their recent 2-2 draw against the Beat where in which Tina Ellertson snatched the win away from Philadelphia Landon Donovan-style. Philadelphia was Algeria. I still get all weepy when I think of that moment, by the way.

3.) And Can Amy Rodriguez Continue Her Renaissance?

Get this: If Amy Rodriguez can score one more goal this weekend, she’d be second overall and just one goal away from Marta on the overall scoring chart. This is the A-Rod we were all expecting to see last year. Perhaps she’s psychologically helped by the fact that isn’t expected to be the only person on the team that needs to score goals. Recently, Independence goals have come from everywhere. Keep them coming please.

2.) A Chicago Win Is Due. But Will It Happen?

The Chicago Red Stars are the most inconsistent team in WPS. One weekend it’s “ooh, they play so pretty. The comeback starts now”. The next it’s “ehh, they’re not quite there yet are they”. Judging by their results, a win occurs every 2-3 to matches. It’s been 3 matches since Chicago’s last win. My totally arbitrary statistical analysis says: Chicago will beat Boston 2-0 away.

1.) Will Boston Finally Wake From Its Lethargy?

Judging by that last sentence, no. Boston have yet to win at home this season (which is easy when you’ve only won one game all season). This has to be the moment for Boston to strike. As has been mentioned, Chicago is incredibly inconsistent and could be up for the taking. Boston simply has to win this game. A draw or a hard-fought loss just won’t be good enough anymore. Come on Breakers, give your fans something to cheer about.
