5.) Will Kristin Luckenbill Magically Become A Good Goalkeeper In the Next 4 Days?

SBFC has a bye this weekend (which they celebrated well by chilling with the Prez) but that shouldn’t taper over their gloomy predicament. FACT: You will not win a lot of games with Kristin Luckenbill minding your net. FACT: Karen Bardsley cannot play. FACT: Neither can Jenni Branam for a few more weeks. The time has come and gone for player movement (the deadline was yesterday) and there doesn’t seem to be any press releases about SBFC nabbing a Val Henderson or an Allison Whitworth or a…who else is out there? Sky Blue will face Washington this Wednesday. Come on Luckenbuck.

4.) Will FC Gold Pride Be Up For Their Taking?

FCGP’s defense went alarmingly slack in the second half against Sky Blue FC last weekend. It won’t be able to do the same against an Atlanta team that is admittedly full of unknown quantities but still could be dangerous. And by that I mean Tina Ellertson who has now become a top goal-scorer, apparently, in addition to being a great central defender. Atlanta’s undefeated seasons starts NOW.

3.) Is Boston’s Season Over?

Some major snark forthcoming: If you were to make a list of things Boston needs most, where would a second-rate international defender fall on that list? Probably after striker, goalkeeper, striker, central midfielder, winger and outside back right? Hah. Which is why Boston’s signing of Ifeoma Dieke makes zero sense. Boston’s actually ranked fourth in WPS in least amount of goals against. They do not need another defender. This resumes a string of puzzling decisions made by Boston recently (i.e. cutting fan fave Tiffany Weimer and not cutting un-fan fave Tony DiCicco). They’re playing a team that is definitely playing their best soccer right now in the Philadelphia Independence. Good luck.

2.) Can A-Rod Score Even More?

A-Rod’s surging with confidence right now and it’s great to see. Amy LePeilbet mentioned that the last time these two teams met, they allowed A-Rod too much space in the box but came away with a draw. We’ll see how they can cope with a much smaller field in West Chester, PA. I’ll try not to mention how cool it would be if Rodriguez can exact some kind of revenge on DiCicco with a perfect hat trick.

1.) Who Will Be More Consistent In the Match-Up Between the Two Most Inconsistent Teams In WPS?

The Freedom inexplicably blew a two-goal lead last weekend against Philly. Chicago has never had the same result (meaning either win, tie or loss) in three consecutive games this season. When these two met a few weeks ago, they produced one of the most thrilling games of the WPS season with a few very early goals and a few very late goals. And then there was Casey Noguiera’s brilliant performance. Hopefully we can see something like that again.
