Welcome to the Fightergirls column on Women Talk Sports brought to you by your source for women’s mma gear and clothing Fightergirls.com. Here is the news for this week.

Tonya Evinger wins at Raging Wolf

In breaking news, Tonya Evinger is back on the winning track, defeating A.J. Jenkins via second round tko at the Raging Wolf card in Niagara Falls this past weekend. Coming off a tough loss to Raging Wolf Champion Alexis Davis in a bout she took on with only two weeks notice, the well prepared Evinger dominated the fight. In the second round, she mounted Jenkins and landed punches, forcing Jenkins to tap.
The win gives Evinger a rematch with Alexis Davis in the next few months for the Raging Wolf title.
The Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz MMA held a great set of women’s bouts this past weekend, with three women’s pro bouts.
Amy "Lil Dynamite" Davis defeats Jen Berg via Unanimous Decision, Carla Esparza defeats Lacey Schuckman via rear naked choke at 2:37 of round 2 and Angela Samaro defeats Brittany Howard via armbar at 2:01 of round 1.

In other results from this past week -
Kate Aroa defeats Angela Parr via Armbar at 4:48 of round 1 at the Elite Fight Night 11 in Australia
Claire Haigh defeats Sun Jiao via third round TKO and Yang Xiao Nan defeats Gina Iniong via Unanimous Decision at the Martial Combat 6 in Singapore
The wait is nearly over, as the Strikeforce 135 pound champion Sarah Kaufman is challenged by #2 ranked 135 pounder Roxanne Modafferi this coming Friday in Everette, WA live on Showtime. Both women say they are ready for what could be one of the best women's matches of the year. Neither fighter is saying that it will go to all five rounds.

"For me this is a very important fight," Kaufman stated to us on "Sportsgeeks". "I think for Roxy its a tough fight. I am not an easy task for anyone, and given that this is a title fight of course she has to take it. It is a definitely a fight I am coming (in aggressively) for. I am going to win this fight and (make her) wish she didn't take it."
Challenger Roxanne Modafferi
"I think she is a pretty solid fighter," Modafferi admitted to us. "Even though I have twice as much ring experience as she does, I am definitely not looking past her. "
"I do want to be the first person to beat Sarah Kaufman. I tend to be the first person to beat 'so and so'. I hope that streak will continue."
Strikeforce fighter Hitomi "Girl Fight Monster" Akano
Strikeforce put out an official press release this week announcing the four woman 135 pound tournament at Strikeforce Challengers Phoenix Aug. 13. As reported last week by Fightergirls, #10 ranked 135 pounder Miesha Tate will join #6 ranked Hitomi Akano in the tournament, but the release did not mention #2 ranked 125 pounder Carina Damm or Upcoming Glory tournament winner Maiju Kujala. It is suspected the reason why the two names have not be announced as of yet is because Strikeforce is waiting on travel visas for the two fighters to be approved.

#7 ranked 145 pounder Shana Olsen
It was suspected that formerly ranked Erin Toughill and #7 ranked Shana Olsen would be fighting at Strikefroce Houston Aug. 21, but that is not looking like the case anymore. Strikeforce announced four bouts of the main card for the event, but no mention of Toughill vs. Olsen. Sources close to Fightergirls say that the two fighters have agreed to the fight, and it is in Strikeforce’s and Showtime’s hands to set a date. The August Strikeforce Phoenix card and the rumored Strikeforce October card in Dallas could be possibilities.
