 Shalane Flanagan: Running, Track & Field

 Flanagan is an olympic distance runner and American record holder for Nike.

Flanagan started her career at the University of North Carolina. At the 2008 Beijing olympics, Flanagan won bronze in the 10,000m. In 2010 she took bronze at the USA Cross Country Championships, helping the USA win the bronze overall. In 2011, she made her debut in the New York City Marathon. She placed second there, becoming one of the fastest to debut in a marathon in American history. She holds the American record in the 3000 m (indoor), 5000 m (indoor), and 10,000 m (outdoor).

Flanagan ran her 2nd marathon ever at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and won in a Trials record 2:25:38.
