Kampf, formerly Dorniden, was a middle distance runner at the University of Minnesota. While at Minnesota she was named the most decorated athlete women's track athlete. She was a nine-time All-American as a Gopher, becoming the 800m indoor NCAA champion in 2006. Kampf (Dorniden) holds school records in eight events at the University of Minnesota  (800 meters indoor and outdoor, 400 meters indoor, 600 meters indoor, the 4x400-meter relay indoor, indoor and outdoor distance medley relays, the outdoor 4x800m relay and the outdoor 4x1,600m relay). At the time of her graduation she was the only Gopher who had competed in every NCAA Championship in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track during the time she was at the University. After graduation, Kampf placed 3rd at the USA Indoor Championships in the 800m (2010), 6th in the USA Road Mile Championships (2010), and 3rd, again, in the 2011 USA Indoor Championships. She is currently part of Team USA Minnesota, running for Asics.
