Marta appointed UNDP Goodwill Ambassador
Vieira de Silva is a Brazillian professional soccer player. She currently plays for the New York Flash and is a member of Brazil's National Team. She has won the FIFA Player of the Year Award in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. She was part of the silver metaling Brazilian National Team at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. In 2008 she was awarded with the World Footballer of the Year award. That same year, she joined the Los Angeles Sol professional soccer team, signing a 3 year contract. After the Sol ended operations, Vieira de Silva joined the FC Gold Pride. While on FC Gold Pride Marta won the WPS MVP and WPS Golden Boot for the second year in a row. In 2011 she joined the New York Flash. Off the field, Marta is a United Nations Development Programe Goodwill Ambassador.
