USGA TO HOST MEDIA AVAILABILITY AND NEWSCONFERENCE

Event to feature exclusive access to new Mickey Wright Room in USGA Museum Former and current LPGA players will be in attendance Far Hills, N.J. (May 4, 2012).

The United States Golf Association (USGA) will be hosting a media availability and news conference in conjunction with a special preview of a new permanent USGA Museum exhibit dedicated to the unparalleled career of four-time U.S. Women's Open champion Mickey Wright. The exhibit contains a collection of more than 200 personal golf artifacts provided by Wright, who won 82 LPGA tournaments. The Mickey Wright Room, scheduled to officially open on June 16, is the Museum's first to honor a female golfer and will join rooms dedicated to Bob Jones, Ben Hogan and Arnold Palmer.

WHY: The event is a celebration of women's golf and recognition of one of the top players of all time. Wright won 82 events on the LPGA Tour and 13 major championships, including four U.S. Women's Opens. She topped the LPGA money list for four consecutive seasons from 1961 to 1964, and finished in the top 10 on the money list 13 times. In addition, Wright won at least one LPGA title in 14 consecutive seasons, from 1956 to 1969.
