Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki qualified for the second round of women's tennis tournament in Beijing, after defeating Italian Sara Errani. Fans of sports betting sites should take into consideration that Wozniacki is just one win away from becoming the world’s number one of the Women’s Tennis Rankings (WTA).

The 20-year-old tennis player has to achieve a win in the second round against Czech Petra Kvitova, which comes from beating Kia Kanepi, to replace Serena Williams as world’s number one in the overall rankings.

“Being number one has always been one of my goals, but I'm concentrating on winning the next tournament," Wozniacki said after winning her fifth title of the 2010 season.

Serena has only played in six tournaments in 2010, and it has opened the door to the Danish player to settle at the top of the WTA, as did the Russian Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic in 2005 and 2009, respectively.

For her part, Kvitova ranks No. 34 in the overall standings. However, in the latest match between these two players, Wozniacki lost to Kvitova 6-2, 6-0 at Wimbledon this year.

Also, in this women’s tournament, Russian Vera Zvoraneva qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating her compatriot Maria Kirilenko. In the next round, Zvoraneva will face Francesca Schiavone, which is the fifth-strongest candidate to win the China Open.

In addition, Schiavone dominates the record over the Russian by 9-0, but if Zvoraneva wins, she would be really close to a third-place ranking, the best position in her career.

Finally, the Chinese tournament is played on hard surface and has $ 4.5 million in prize money and also gives points to the winner in the WTA.
