Holly Holm Stops Jan Finney At Fresquez Productions: Standout boxer Holly “Hottie” Holm picked up her second mixed martial arts win tonight at Fresquez Productions: “Clash In The Cage” in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Holm stopped former Strikeforce title challenger Jan “Cuddles” Finney with a kick to the body in the later stages of the third and final round.

Widely seen as the top pound-for-pound female boxer in the world, Holm debuted in MMA with a second-round TKO victory in March and took a big step up in competition against Finney tonight. Keeping the fight on the feet, Holm was able to outstrike the veteran before finishing her off with the kick.

Holm (2-0-0) engaged in a kickboxing battle through two rounds with Finney (8-10-0) and looked to get the better of many of the exchanges. While some felt that Finney would look to take Holm to the mat, Holm kept the fight standing and was able to wear Finney down with technical strikes. Midway through the final round, Holm landed a kick to the body that put Finney down and the fight was stopped. The victory was a big one for Holm, who has not faced easy opponents in her two MMA bouts to date.

Winner: Holly Holm by TKO (Kick To The Body) at 2:49 of round three. She improves to 2-0-0.

The stoppage loss could impact Finney’s next fight as well if she is given a medical suspension. Finney is currently scheduled to face Kaitlin Young at Freestyle Cage Fighting 49 on October 1st. A 30-day medical suspension, which is typically standard for a TKO loss, would force Finney out of the bout with Young in three weeks. Holm, meanwhile, is set to rematch Angelica Martinez in a boxing match on September 21st at the Santa Ana Star Casino.
