Soo today I had a good practice. Thank GOD there was no rain; I can now get back on a normal training schedule!! And I’ll be back out there tomorrow, Xmas eve! I have to get the work in!! Jo Hayes and the baby may even grace us with their presence otherwise I’ll be out there with Mr. Trojan Horse AGAIN lol!

But other than that, I saw another movie with the family! Omg it was a good one, we saw fighter. It was a great movie, and I connected to it in an interesting way. One thing that I connected with was how the main character Mickey had to turn his career around. He was a great talented fighter but he wasn’t having a prosperous career. He wasn’t getting the level of training he needed, he didn’t have proper guidance, and didn’t have the right people around him. From the moment I the movie started and I saw how the story was unfolding, I instantly connected with him. I felt like I knew exactly what he was going through. I have been in a situation where I wasn’t getting the coaching I needed, nor was I in the best environment for me. As the movie kept going I SAW the impact the people around you can have on your performance. People often say it, and I may even repeat it but this movie put meaning behind the words. Having positive people can take you a long way; they can motivate you and help you keep things into perspective. When you are competing for something, whether in the work field, athletic field or the class room, your mind may not always be clear. Therefore, it is important to have people around who can help you make good decisions. Heck, Baraka Obama has Valeria Jared as his advisor, and he is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES; he can depend on her and trust her. That goes to show the importance of having an advisor or mentor who can assist you, that among other things can contribute to your successes or failures.

I have seen it happen time and time ago, people ending up in unfortunate situations because of the people they surround themselves with. If it weren’t for my faith, and strong family I wouldn’t be on this journey now; they helped me get moving down the right track. NO ONE can do it alone! Everyone needs someone they can count on! With that said, I have now surrounded my self with positive people who know me and believe in me as an athlete and as a result I feel healthy, strong, and ready to roll!

xoxo MacKenzie
