An inspirational daily journal by a professional track & field athlete dedicated to her dream.

Hey Everyone,

Where to start, today I was my first day back in full blown training. I haven’t been doing much lately because of my asthma but today we pushed it a little and it felt GREAT!! I tell you sitting on the side lines is never fun it is harder than training (well maybe not physically) lol, but it is stressful. But yea, today also made me realize how much I love my coaching situation. My coach and I have a great understanding and connection. It makes for a great relationship. It is important that your coach, or the person who has your career in there hands, understands you as a person and in my case as an athlete. Knowing she understands me and believes in me allows me to trust that she has my best interest at heart.

Today instead of going over board and killing me, she gave me a workout that allowed me to step back into training, so I do not exasperate my lungs. Then later this evening, after I rested, I went into the weight room. OMG I impressed myself today WHAT CAN I SAY! While I was in there doing some of the lifts I felt sooo strong I couldn’t believe it. I started off light and was thinking wow this feels easy, so I just started adding weight. I told Greg “I’ve never felt, like, strong before.” And he said, “you never worked hard before” lol. I know that sounds weird but it is so true. Today as I was looking at the weight and how light it felt I was impressed. So for my first day back, it was AWESOME, and I look forward to putting together another great one tomorrow. Talk to you soon.

xoxo MacKenzie
