Hey Everyone,
What a day. Attending the Mt. SAC Relays was interesting. I learned some lessons there and a lot more today. I’ll give you the instant replay of my race then I can reflect on it Tuesday.
MacKenzie Center
So Saturday started off great although it was really (really) hot. My training partner and I found our coaches and then some shade (“the cave” lol, which was a room off to the side) to relax until it was time to warm up. I lay down, listened to my music, and ran my race in my head. Then it was 3:30 and time to warm up.
I walked out to the warm up field and started my warm up. I was listening to my music, getting into my zone, and it felt like time was flying. I completed my drills then…

It was time to go over some hurdles just to get the feel

Time to walk out to the track, set our blocks, and get ready to RACE. Man its almost time for the show.

SHOW TIME!! Runners to your marks ok Mac its time to go to work. You are ready do what you have been practicing. SET… BANG.
I got out of there and I kinda ran up on the first hurdle but I took it. The next four were go I felt like I was on pass. Ok now going into six is when I have to work to stay open and boom, I took it perfectly. I am in great position at this point, as I was going into the curve. NOW going into seven this is were I’ve been working ok ok take it with the left take it with the left, boom got over it with the left ok MAC you are doing it, let's go to work and take it home. I took eight with the right, yes the pattern is unfolding nicely lets take nine with the left. I went into nine ready to take it with the left and then…. O NO!!! I went straight up and landed on the back of my foot towards my heel. BOOOOOOOM my landing was so off the field started pulling away, I tried to get back in it but that landing took everything. I went into hurdle 10, and just finished the race.
That was a hard loss, but a good lesson. It was a hard loss because I know I am in better shape then where I finished, but at the same time it showed me what I need to work on and gave my coaches some good feedback as to where I am!! Thanks for tuning into MacKenzie Center on MacKenziejourney.com.
xoxo MacKenzie
