So this weekend I ventured off into another attempt to do a 20 miler. I have been majorly slacking lately in the running front. I just haven’t been able to get my act together and I was on vacation for a week and a half and working a ton. I knew this weekend, just 14 short days away from race morning, I knew it was imperative for me and my running mindset to at least complete a 20 miler.
I set off Saturday morning to Pasadena to meet up with a friend and off we went. In the beginning we were running pretty fast for myself. She is training for Long Beach, so we are both on a pretty close timetable for training. I started feeling tired right around mile 13, which I expected but we ran mostly the whole time at a pretty good speed. The last few miles were much slower than we started but I drank a lot of water the whole time and made sure to fuel properly throughout our run. Once we arrived back to her house it was getting warm and even though the 5:00 wake up call was a little early, I’m glad we got it done and I was actually really proud of myself for getting in a 20 miler with my crappy training.
That being said, yesterday Camarillo was exactly 2 weeks away. I can’t believe it’s already here! I am pretty excited, though I must admit, I am a little scared as well. I know it will be a great race and my ‘type’ of race because it’s a smaller race and I have found that I do like that. Pending how that goes I’ll make a decision on Malibu and whether I’m going to run the half or the full.
It was funny, on Saturday night I used my Sleep Cycle App (which I discussed here) and I knew I was tired, but I basically passed out.
Besides the 20 miler this weekend I was pretty much working around the house all weekend. I had another section of flowerbeds that I planted on Sunday and I also cleaned most of the house and did laundry. Pretty boring, but I know 20 miler weekends get shot a lot of the time with not really knowing how you are going to feel. I’d rather have no expectations to do anything than have a million things to do after a 20 miler. I felt like I got a lot accomplished this weekend and I worked on my cooking skills too! I made a quiche and also a pumpkin pie. I have no idea why, but I just wanted to make one.
xoxo
