NACWAA has had recent conversations with several members of the NCAA staff and leadership regarding plans for overall modifications and improvements in the Division I Athletics Certification process. Currently there is a moratorium on any member institutions initiating new certification work until the Committee on Athletics Certification has the opportunity to address the membership's interest in simplifying the process and make recommendations as to how the new certification process will work. As a result of our discussions, I am confident that the Committee remains committed to improving the strength of the Gender Equity component that is part of the new program.

Several NACWAA Board of Directors members have been invited to provide input as the new program is developed and we are excited to work on the issue collaboratively with the Committee on Athletics Certification and the NCAA staff. NACWAA will assist the NCAA as it works on the Certification process that will be reinstituted in the near future with a structure that assists NCAA members and supports gender equity.

We join the Committee on Athletics Certification in encouraging all institutions to continue monitoring gender issues and implementing plans for improvement during the program suspension. We appreciate and value your feedback and wish you continued success!
