NACWAA Member Honors, Promotions and Goings On

The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) empowers, develops, assists, celebrates, affirms, involves and honors women in the field and takes a pro-active role in advancing them into positions of influence. NACWAA members are on the move and racking up honors from coast to coast. Kudos to you all!

Leslie Claybrook, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Rice University for the last four years, has been named Assistant Commissioner at the Southeastern Conference.

Joan Cronan, University of Tennessee Interim Vice Chancellor and Interim Athletic Director, was recently named recipient of the United States Sports Academy’s 2011 Carl Maddox Sports Management Award. Named in honor of the former Athletic Director of Louisiana State University and Mississippi State University, the award is given annually to an individual for his or her contributions to the growth and development of sport enterprise through effective management practices.

Tiffany Daniels has been named Georgia State's Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs.Daniels joins the GSU athletics staff from the Georgia Dome, where she has served as Director of Business Development since 2006.

Barbara Hedges will be inducted into the University of Southern California Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2012. Hedges is credited with developing the USC women's athletics program during her 18-year tenure as a Trojan athletics administrator. She began her USC career as an associate athletic director in 1973, overseeing the Women of Troy to 13 national championships. Her groundbreaking career continued when she became Washington's athletic director from 1991 to 2004.

The Atlantic 10 Conference promoted Director of Compliance Jill Redmond to Assistant Commissioner. Redmond was hired as Director of Compliance at the A-10 in October 2009.

Leah Thyne has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and External Relations at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

NACWAA proudly announced the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award recipients to be honored at the 2011 NACWAA National Convention: Nan Nichols, Louise O'Neal, Judy Sweet and Chris Voelz. Read the official press release in the NACWAA newsroom.
