Elizabeth Barlow has been promoted to the director of media relations at the University at Albany after serving as the interim director of media relations.
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse appointed Kim Blum as the university's interim director of athletics effective July 7. Blum replaces Josh Whitman, who accepted the position of director of athletics at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Blum is a 2009 graduate of NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement (IAA) West. Read more here
This past Friday the 13th, Colgate athletics director Vicky Chun and 13 Colgate women alumnae rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange. The group represented their Colgate spirit while honoring 40 years of coeducation at the university. Chun also serves on the NACWAA Board of Directors. Read the story here
Jocelyn Fisher, formerly assistant athletics director for administration, was promoted to senior associate director of athletics for administration and senior woman administrator at the University of South Florida in May. Fisher will also attend the 2014 IAA East next week. Read her biography here
The National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) announced the recipients of their Professional Promise Awards. The University of Missouri-Kansas City learning services coordinator Amelia Howard was announced and honored on June 7 during their convention. Howard is also a 2014 graduate of IAA West. The University of Cincinnati senior associate director of athletics Maggie McKinley has been named the department's senior woman administrator. McKinley is a 2009 graduate of IAA East and active NACWAA committee member. Read the release here
Blackburn College athletic director Angie Morenz has been appointed as the interim commissioner for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Morenz is a 2014 graduate of IAA West.
The 2014 edition of The Center for Coaching Excellence concluded on June 11 as 36 college women's basketball coaches completed the elite leadership program. Former NACWAA past president, Dr. M. Dianne Murphy, director of intercollegiate athletics and physical education at Columbia University, lead as is the program facilitator. Several NACWAA members served as faculty, including: Val Ackerman, commissioner at the Big East Conference; Bernadette V. McGlade, commissioner of the Atlantic 10 Conference; Jody Conradt, head women’s basketball coach emerita at the University of Texas. Read the article here
