Slippery when wet

Hi, I'm Hanne Lyngstad and I write Irunthereforeiblog to inform and teach you who are interested in training and gear. I'm a runner and I raced my first competition in '90. I've liked the individual competition a lot, and now running is my lifestyle. Through my former job at a running specialist store in Oslo, I have learned to appreciate quality gear and equipment. I have learned to distinguish between a good shoe and a not so good. I love seeking the good feelings of training, and hopefully you will enjoy reading about it!

Sunday afternoon I went out for a walk looking for mushrooms. Yep, that's one of my favorite things to do during the fall. I live close by the woods. I put on some light clothes and a pair of trail shoes I haven't worn before.
The woods are wet and lots of slippery rocks and roots. I had good grip walking on gravel. As soon as I walked downhill or stepped on larger rocks, my shoes didn't grip much at all. I felt unsafe!

So, what do you do if you realize your shoes make life risky during a Sunday walk or when trail running?
Well, first, don't give up on them. Try them a few more times. Walk on gravel and surface which can rub the shoes outer sole. You could also try to run the outer sole with some sandpaper. Most new shoes are produced with thin film that can make the shoes slippery when used for the first time.
Anyone with a good advice?
