A surprise result has come early on day three of racquetball at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, as Canadian Frédérique Lambert has defeated Mexican Samantha Salas, 9-15, 15-11, 11-6. That result might put the Mexican women - Salas and Paola Longoria on the same side of the draw in the elimination round.

No other surprises in women's singles, as Rhonda Rajsich, Paola Longoria, Cheryl Gudinas, and Jennifer Saunders were all winners Wednesday.

In men's singles, both Mexicans won. Alvaro Beltran beat Cesar Castillo, 15-11, 15-11, and Gilberto Mejia defeated American Alex Ackermann, 15-11, 15-6.

The other American in men's singles - Rocky Carson - won his match, defeating Ricardo Monroy of Bolivia, 15-12, 15-7.

Finally, it was not a good day for Canada, as both Mike Green and Vincent Gagnon lost. Green fell to World Junior Champion Carlos Keller of Bolivia, 15-10, 4-15, 11-6, and Gagnon was beaten by Alejandro Herrera of Colombia, 6-15, 15-5, 11-9.

The racquetball competition has two parts. An individual competition, which will run Monday to Saturday (Oct 17-22) and a team competition, which will run Sunday Oct 23 to Tuesday October 25.
