Groveland, FL (September 28, 2010) This fall, INT will carry the spirit of amateur water sports competition to new territory. The INT League will host the 12th Annual US Championships at Sunset Lakes in Florida, October 13-16. Sunset Lakes is the home of world renowned Jack Travers Training Center and offers two lakes for perfect skiing and riding conditions. State champions from all over the US are coming together at this momentous occasion for ability based competition and an event experience unlike any other. Participants have qualified for this event by competing in their INT State Tour and placing in the top three.
The event features two rounds of competition and a finals round for the top three in each division. An awards banquet at the Mission Inn Resort will honor the winners of each division. Those crowned US Champion will take home finely crafted awards by Dorsey’s Original Action Sports Furniture.
There will be competition both on and off the water! Three scholastic scholarships will be awarded to deserving students who submitted essays entitled “How the INT Has Effected My Life,” an academic program supported by INT and it’s partners. Skiers and Riders will vote on the Best of Booth Award, presenting the trophy to the sponsor with the most creative booth. The Team Challenge Award will be presented to the State Team with the most podium finishes, and the State Team with the most enthusiasm will take home the State Spirit trophy.
The event is free for spectators. The event will commence at 8:30am each event day. Sunset Lakes is located just 48 miles northwest of the Orlando International Airport in Groveland, (3018 No Wake Lane).
Several professional athletes will attend to sign autographs and perform exhibitions. The legendary Andy Mapple will help skiers set up the new O’Brien Elite slalom ski. Attendees will meet celebrated skiers Jamie Beauchasne and Will Asher; and play ping pong with MasterCraft and CWB rider Andrew Adkison. Parks Bonifay, Austin Hair, Harley Clifford, Trevor Hansen, and Rusty Malinoski will sign autographs; while wakeboard pioneers Dave Briscoe and Zane Schwank charm the crowd on the mic. Many other pro athletes will be on the water and celebrating with INT participants.
The INT League has numerous fun events planned in conjunction with the Championships event, kicking off with a pool party on Tuesday, October 12th. On Thursday evening, all are welcome to join In His Wakes for a “This Iz My Story” production at the Mission Inn Resort, featuring an inspirational evening with Shaun Murray, Brooks Wilson and Emily Durham.
