Triathlons from a girl's perspective. I love to run and a few years ago I found myself cycling and learning how to swim. Thus, I am now an obsessed triathlete.

Preston just got a new book last week, all about fixing your feet, in preparation for the running we will do at Trans Rockies. I was kind of skeptical at first, after all, how much reading enjoyment would a book like this provide? Truth be told, not much. However, if you happen to destroy your feet from your athletic passions, this book can come in handy, as it did this weekend. I've been getting a bit of a blister on the ball of my left foot. Normally my feet are fine but lately they have been troubling me. I have no idea what changed, but as I rounded through mile 14 on my run last Sunday, I could feel the blister making it's presence known. I also felt an entirely new blister on the outside of my right foot.

Upon run completion, I was pumped. I had flown threw my 14.5 miles and surprised myself with a great increasing pace and I felt like I could keep going too. I was excited to remove my shoes and let my feet breath. Left shoe off. I discovered something I'd never seen before. Not only had the blister returned, but it was now a dark and nasty blood blister! I cringed in horror. Right shoe off, new blister was enormous. Joy.

I hobbled around at brunch post run with my shoes barely on, in preparation for the moment I could fully remove them. Once home, I pulled out the new book and discovered how to take care of the suckers. Duct tape + 2nd skin blister bandages work! I have to use the duct tape, otherwise the bandages won't stay on for more than a few hours. But after two days there was noticeable improvement and I could easily run without pain. I also made a pit stop at Fleet Feet and purchased a pair of (outrageously expensive) DryMax socks. We shall see if the blisters persist.
