In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

Rookie center Liz Cambage of the Tulsa Shock has been named as a replacement player for the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game presented by adidas, league President Laurel J. Richie announced today. Cambage will take the roster spot of injured Los Angeles Sparks center Candace Parker on the Western Conference roster.
Cambage joins the roster that includes fellow rookies Danielle Adams and Maya Moore, along with Seimone Augustus, Sue Bird, Rebekkah Brunson, Swin Cash, Becky Hammon, Diana Taurasi, Penny Taylor and Lindsay Whalen. Coach of the Western Conference team, Brian Agler, will determine who will start at center as Parker was voted on by fans as the starter. Cambage is the only listed center on the team.
Cambage beat out fellow conference centers Taj McWilliams-Franklin, Ruth Riley and Kara Braxton, among others, en route to earning the special selection. Cambage enters the all-star break second in scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounds (5.3 rpg) for the Shock. She leads all rookies in rebounding and blocks (1.2 bpg) and is third in scoring and steals (1.3 spg).
But her numbers aren't only just good for the newest class in the WNBA, as she is third in the league with 67 total free throws. Playing an average of just over 23 minutes per game, Cambage is in the top 20 in numerous "per 40 minute" categories - 1st in free throws per 40 minutes, sixth in points per 40 minutes, 11th in blocks per 40 minutes and the list goes on. Cambage is the first selection to the all-star game for the Tulsa Shock since relocating from Detroit two seasons ago.
