Minnesota Lynx Lucky to Leave with 78-72 Win over the Tulsa Shock
The Tulsa Shock hung tough with the league-leading Minnesota Lynx before losing 78-72.
In fact, the Shock were within a possession after the first quarter ended 19-16. After the second quarter, Tulsa had it at 36-34, down by a measly basket. After the third quarter which saw the Lynx go on a 9-2 run to start the period, the Shock still manage to hang in. Heading into the last 10 minutes of the game, the Shock trailed by five. Heading into the last 20 seconds, it was at three. Yes. They lost. But yes, they fought till the very last tick of the clock.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin led the Lynx with 18 points and a timely block with 13.8 seconds left. Lindsey Whalen added 14 points and four assists, Monica Wright pumped in 13 on 4-of-6 shooting and Seimone Augustus added 12. Rebekkah Brunson finished with 10 rebounds even though the Shock won the category 34-27.
