In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

Saturday night in Salina, Kan., Kurt Budke's family and friends gathered to unveil the new name of the Bi-Center's court - Kurt Budke Court.

Budke, who coached Trinity Valley to four NJCAA national championships, was being honored on the night that Trinity Valley and Hutchinson met for this year's championship game. And Kurt's wife, Shelley - along with former Trinity Valley player under Budke and current Trinity coach, Kenya Landers - got to cut down the nets.

Trinity Valley co-head coach Kenya Landers descended from the ladder and handed the scissors to Shelley Budke.

Budke climbed the ladder, snipped the last strand of net that had hung from the basketball goal at the west end of the Bicentennial Center, climbed down, placed the net around Landers and embraced her in a lengthy and emotional hug as they stood on the newly renamed Kurt Budke Court, dedicated to the memory of Shelley's late husband.

Sunday afternoon in Stillwater, Shelley and family were at Gallagher-Iba Arena to watch the Oklahoma State Cowgirls earn their first ever trip to the WNIT Final Four. OSU beat Colorado and will face San Diego for the shot to advance to the WNIT championship game.

I, for one, hope that Shelley will be cutting down more nets this weekend.
