With coaches allowed to get back on the road September 9, it’s no wonder the season of recruiting has heated up.
One player that’s been swamped by the recruiting fury is Canada’s Kia Nurse; one of the top uncommitted prospects left, has been inundated with phone calls. Nurse -- the 17-year-old phenom who is playing for Canada’s Senior National Team -- is one of the most sought after players in all of North America.
Many recruiting aficionados state that Nurse would be a top 10-20 prospect here in the US. So it’s no shock that she and her family have been busy this month with scheduled in-home visits.
Two weeks ago, select schools stopped by for in-home visits to see Canada’s top prospect: Kentucky on Monday (9/9), UConn on Tuesday (9/10), Indiana on Wednesday (9/11) and to close out the week, Penn State visited that Friday (9/13). Tennessee will make a home visit with the Nurse’s next week.
The aforementioned schools are her five finalists. Nurse plans to take at least three official visits but she may decide to commit before taking all of her visits.
“We’re trying to have her take three (visits), it might be two, or it could be one,” said Richard Nurse. “If she goes to a place and she says, ‘Dad, I’m good,’ we’re not (taking) anymore (visits).”
