In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

The WNBA announced its All-WNBA teams today and the Minnesota Lynx led the way with three selections: guard Seimone Augustus, MVP runner-up Maya Moore, and star point guard Lindsay Whalen.
Kent Youngblood of the Star Tribune caught up with Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve about the selections and had this to report:
So, when news came down that forward Maya Moore and point guard Lindsay Whalen had been voted to the All-WNBA first team and guard Seimone Augustus to the second team, Reeve smiled.
"These were our first honors of the postseason, right," she asked, perhaps implying that the team with the best record in the WNBA for a third straight season might have been mentioned earlier.
And indeed, that is surprising for a team currently preparing for its third straight Western Conference Finals appearance.
Leading the voting was Chicago Sky center Sylvia Fowles, who has earned the title of de facto title of "best WNBA center" when combining her All-WNBA, Defensive Player of the Year and MVP votes. Joining Fowles, Moore and Whalen on the All-WNBA First Team were 2013 MVP Candace Parker and Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi.
There's a lot more to say about the selections - particularly the selection of only one guard on the second team - but check out our MVP storystream for analysis on the top All-WNBA candidates (and some hints about my specific thoughts on them in the last MVP race breakdown).
