Q&A; with Seton Hall's Ka-Deidre Simmons: What's different for the Pirates after Anne Donovan?

South Orange, NJ - Her presence was felt on both ends of the floor. Ka-Deidre Simmons led Seton Hall in scoring with 14 points as the Pirates defeated Longwood 63-46 at Walsh Gym on Friday. Defensively, the redshirt junior guard came up with four steals and was a factor on that end as the Hall opened the contest up. For good measure Simmonds added seven assists.

Swish Appeal caught up with Simmons following the victory for three questions.

Swish Appeal: Describe your role on this club.

Ka-Deidre Simmons: "Get the ball to my teammates. That is my main job. Identifying when they are open and distributing the ball. Also, I am responsible for setting the (faster) tempo."

SA: It is early but can you characterize the type of team this might be?

KS: "Hungry. We have two players that sat out last year. We are experienced because those two that could not play (Sidney Cook and Ali Bra'Shey) learned what we were trying to do. Our experience also comes from some talented freshmen. They may be new but they played on competitive teams in high school and got experience against strong competition. We play hard, have athleticism and with a full lineup, we can really battle teams. This is a team with some talent and we will get after it."

SA: What is the difference with the change in coaches?

KS : "Not a whole lot of difference. Anne Donovan came here and started something. She got us to believe in ourselves and our ability. Coach B (Tony Bozzella) has built on that. He has picked up where Anne (Donovan) left off. He is very positive and in his approach he lets us know what we have to do to get where we want to be as a team."
