There are many "Midnight Madness" showcases and the like. But only one school can hold such an opportunity for the defending national champions.
Around the college basketball world, many schools are holding their open houses where the men's and women's basketball teams introduce themselves, both head coaches say, "We're going to have a great season," etc. etc. etc.
Only one school however is holding such an event for the national champions in the sport -- namely the UConn Huskies.
On Friday night, the Huskies held their "First Night" where fans had a chance to get an autograph from both teams and their coaches. UConn also opened the Werth Family UConn Basketball Champions Center, which is the program's new practice facility, completely built with private funds. A highlight video of the entire night is at the top of this post, also from UConn's YouTube channel. In it, a number of Husky basketball alumni like Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird, ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo, and NBA star Ray Allen were in attendance.
