In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

"Pac-10 Conference Names First Chief Marketing Officer": Will a former WNBA executive help women's basketball marketing?

An interesting note about the Pac-10's new Chief Marketing Officer -- she previously worked for the WNBA.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Larry Scott, Commissioner of the Pac-10 Conference, announced today that Danette Leighton will join the conference as its first ever Chief Marketing Officer. She is currently the Vice President of Marketing and Brand Development for Maloof Sports & Entertainment, owner of the NBA's Sacramento Kings and ARCO Arena.

So aside for continuing to squeeze all the juice the conference can out of Stanford, I wonder what she will do for women's basketball.

I don't know if this falls under her sphere of influence, but a suggested start is to highlight players that actually play in the Pac-10 on the website's banner.
