In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

USA 99, Greece 73: How about that Evanthia Maltsi?

The U.S. won their opening game in the World Championships against Greece, but former Connecticut Sun guard Evanthia Maltsi's performance stood out as impressive - despite 7 turnovers, she had five steals and was just as aggressive going to the rim on the offensive end.

My first reaction to seeing her play was to wonder if WNBA teams had shown interest since she played for the Sun in 2007. But according to Sun media relations, they still own her rights and she has a job with the Greek government that prevents her from playing in the summer.

But definitely a player to watch going forward.
