In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

While we've been sitting down eating our kibbles and dreaming of the start of women's college basketball, the American players in the Liga Femenina - the Spanish women's basketball league - soldier on through their seasons. As Euroleague won't start until the end of October, the Spanish league is in its two-games-a-week phase. The games generally take place on Wednesday and Saturday during this time of year, so guess what? - the teams in the Spanish league now have two games under their belt.

Wednesday, October 13

Perfumerias 76, Joventut 69

Perfumerias went on the road and didn't have much trouble against Joventut despite Shay Murphy tearing up the court. Joventut managed to lead 23-22 at the end of the first quarter, and then the power flipped off for the home club - Joventut only scored eight points in the second. The big problem for Joventut was that Murphy could get no help from her teammates. Murphy scored 27 points, Paola Ferrari scored 16...and the rest of the club combined only scored 26.

Joventut: Murphy 27/9 reb/9 TO, Ferrari 16/6 ast/5 stl, Vega 9/9 reb, Comfort 6/6 reb/3 ast/5 TO.
Perfumerias: Lyttle 22/12 reb/4 ast, de Souza 12/6 reb, Torrens 10, de Mondt 8.

Rivas Ecopolis 73, Hondarribia 59

Courtney Paris was the MVP of this game with a double-double and Elisa Aguilar shot 4-for-7 from the 3-point line for visiting Rivas Ecopolis. This was a close game for the first three quarters, with Rivas leading 50-47 after the third but in the fourth Hondarribia gave up the ghost. Valdemoro did not play in this game for Rivas Ecopolis but I haven't been able to find out why.

Hondarribia: Lacy 14/3 stl, Dapo 13, Rad 8, Burgin 0/3 reb.
Rivas Ecopolis: Aguilar 24, Paris 13/15 reb, Bonner 11/6 reb, Liljestrand 7.

Zaragoza 66, Cadi la Seu 49

Supposely, a crappy first half. Cadi la Seu only shot 35 percent for the whole game so that might have been the reason the score was 27-20 in favor of Zaragoza at halftime. Anika Henry had a great defensive game for Zaragoza with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The only high point for Cadi la Seu might have been Franciele Nascimento.

Zaragoza: Henry 14/12 reb, Brown 12/4 reb/3 ast/3 stl, Royo 10, Feaster 8/9 reb/4 ast/5 stl.
Cadi la Seu: Nascimento 12, Berciano 7, Traore 6, Garcia 6/10 reb, Ble 6/5 reb.

Ros Casares 64, Extrugasa 48

El Ros won every quarter of this game, slowly stretching their lead over the whole forty minutes in a supposedly dull game. Katie Douglas and Rebekkah Brunson pushed Ros Casares to secure the win, but this is the kind of team that Ros Casares should have blown out - Extrugasa only shot 29 percent - and the media is starting to ask questions about the strength of the Valencians.

Extrugasa: Vynuchalova 13, Stevenson 10, Adams 6.
Ros Casares: Brunson 15/12 reb, Dougas 12/8 reb/5 TO, Lima 9, McWilliams 5/5 reb, Lawson 4.

Girona 63, Vigo 58

This was a surprise outcome, as Real Celta Vigo was playing at home. With Vigo leading 37-33 at halftime, both teams struggled in the third with both teams almost tied, 45-44 in favor of Vigo. Girona made the final push in the fourth for the upset on the road, with Laura Antoja a major contributor to Girona's win.

Vigo: Jordana 16, Sliskovic 14/7 reb/5 TO, Gomez 11, Stakneviciene 10/13 reb/6 TO.
Girona: Antoja 22, Bahi 10/8 reb, Warbuton 9/5 reb/4 ast/3 stl, Kelly 4/5 reb/4 TO.

Gran Canaria 74, Navarra 45

Gran Canaria beat up Navarra from the opening tipoff, and Navarra is still looking for its first win in Spain's upper division after promtion. Nicole Michael had 18 points and 5 rebounds in 26 minutes of play. Interesting stat: Navarra only had four free throws...and missed all of them.

Gran Canaria: Michael 18/5 reb, Arguello 14, Nordstrom 12/4 stl.
Navarra: Asurmendi 14, Liniera 7, Chones 6/5 reb, Palomares 6.

Ibiza 80, Olesa 56

After Olesa's overtime win from Saturday it seems that there was a slight letdown - in the first and third quarters Olesa were held to just eight points for each of the quarters as Ibiza won at home with no problem. Sandra Pirsic had 22 points and 7 rebounds for Ibiza.

Ibiza: Pirsic 22/7 reb, Smith 18, Thorburn 13/4 reb/5 ast, Segui 13.
Olesa: Traore 11, Kerr 10/6 reb, Pop 10, Navarro 9, Podkovalnikova 8/6 reb.
