Sports-based stories almost always inspire, as does this one, because their subjects often demonstrate sacrifice and hard work at a level most of us can only aspire to. There is some special drive — some secret genetic ingredient that an athlete like Shoni [Schimmel] must have that pushes her to continue to work under extremely difficult circumstances, especially given the historical context from which she might (and does) emerge.
