Olympic bronze medalist (10,000m) Shalane Flanagan gave firefighter Ryan Sutter (of Bachelorette fame) insights into how small tweaks to his preparation could impact his performance on race day, leading up to the 2011 ING NYC Marathon. Shalane revealed how visualizing the course during training runs and following a strict pacing plan on race day could help lead to a successful race outcome. Sutter finished the race in an impressive 3 hours, 17 minutes and 58 seconds. Nice job, Coach Shalane!
