Tuesday, June 25 - In the first match of the three-day USASA National Women's Open Cup, the Shock took on the Des Moines Menace, tying 1-1.
The match featured consistently even play with both teams fighting for every yard gained. Both the Shock and the Menace played with strong possession, highlighting their abilities at such a high level of competition.
The Kansas City Dynamos and the Houston Aces also faced off in their first match of the round-robin tournament with the Aces taking the U-23 Dynamos 3-1.
All four teams will play again tomorrow at 6:30 pm at the Overland Park Soccer Complex. The Shock will play the Kansas City Dynamos on Field 1, and the Menace will take on the Aces on Field 2.
The final match of the tournament will be played at 10 am on Thursday morning, where the team with the most points will be declared champion.
