GoWomanGo launches

January 29, 2014 – Los Angeles

Lashinda Demus, one of the most decorated female hurdlers of all time and mother to six-year-old twin boys, is very excited to announce the launch of her new website, GoWomanGo.com. The website will be a place where Demus can share the lessons she has learned as an athlete, a daughter, a wife, a mother and a fellow woman on the journey through life.

Demus is passionate about empowering other women and hopes to inspire her readers to set goals and chase dreams, to engage with them about motherhood and parenting, to help them overcome obstacles and move past failures, and to lend advice on to health and nutrition based on personal experience.

Each week, fresh content will be offered on the site, and Demus will interact with her readers via the site itself and social media outlets. Topics will include setting and achieving lofty goals, finding your passion, knowing your worth, parenting multiples, single parenting, work-life balance, challenging fears, persevering through adversity, fitness and nutrition.

"I want Go Woman Go to be a place for all of those amazing strong women out there who are high achivers with a lot on their plate," Demus said,  "We are strong and we are chasing our dreams, but we also struggle with relationship issues, depression, anxiety, loneliness, guilt and insecurities. I want to help other women find their power and be in the driver’s seat of their life. And I want to go with them on that journey."

More about Lashinda Demus:

After finishing the 2006 season ranked #1 in the world in the 400m hurdles, Lashinda Demus found out she was pregnant with twin boys. She had her sons, Dontay in Duaine, in June 2007 and began her comeback shortly after.

After barely missing a spot on the 2008 Olympic Team, Demus moved her family from South Carolina back home to Los Angeles so she could be coached by her mother Yolande. Under her mother’s guidance, she fought back to her previous form and won silver at the 2009 World Championships.

In 2011, Demus won gold at the World Championships, setting an American Record (52.47 seconds). She followed it up with a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics despite an injury that sidelined her for six weeks leading up to the Trials and growing conflict in her marriage. During the 2012 final in London, her twin sons could be seen and heard yelling, “Go Mommy GO!” on NBC as she came down the homestretch. In 2013, Demus was hindered by knee injuries but still managed to grab a spot on the podium, in third place. Demus is now healthy and has her eyes set on winning gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
