NPF: Chicago Bandits Hit 3 Homeruns, Top Akron Racers 8-3

Akron, OH – June 9, 2014 – The Chicago Bandits certainly provided a round of entertainment on Monday night in Akron, OH as three home runs powered the Chicago Bandits to an 8-3 victory in seven innings over the Akron Racers.
Home runs for the Chicago Bandits came when Brittany Cervantes homered in the first inning, Tammy Williams homered in the second inning, and Cheyenne Coyle homered in the fifth inning.
 
Brittany Cervantes racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Chicago Bandits. She homered in the first inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Lisa Norris was effective even in defeat, mowing down five Chicago Bandits batters and allowing one run.
Michelle Gascoigne got the win for Chicago Bandits. She allowed three runs over five innings. She struck out seven, walked two and surrendered five hits.
Hannah Campbell took the loss for Akron Racers. She allowed six runs in one inning, walked two and struck out one.
Chicago Bandits stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring three runs on a three-run home run by Cervantes.
 
Chicago Bandits built upon its lead with three runs in the second. The inning looked promising, as Danielle Zymkowitz singled, scoring RT Cantillo to kick things off. That was followed up by Williams two-run home run, bringing home Zymkowitz.
Chicago Bandits got one-run rallies in the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, Chicago Bandits scored on an RBI single by Cervantes, plating Zymkowitz.
A two-run fourth inning helped bring Akron Racers within four. A two-run home run by Brianna Cherry gave Akron Racers life. The Akron Racers threat came to an end when Bandits pitcher Michelle Gascoigne finally got Ashley Thomas to ground out.
