I interviewed Andrea Parker today, one of the elite entrants in the field for the New Balance Women's Steeplechase at the New Balance Boston Twilight meet on June 5th at Bentley University.

Andrea decided after getting her Masters in Secondary Education (with a focus on English and History) at the University of Michigan that she would put a "regular" career on hold and pursue her track and field dreams. After training under her former college coach, Mark McGuire, at the University of Michigan, Parker made a big change this year and moved down to Arizona to train under Wynn Gmitroski with his other steeplechase study and former American Record holder, Lisa Galaviz.

Andrea had some great things to say about the female athletes she admires, including fellow Michigan alums Katie McGregor, Anna (Willard) Pierce and Lindsay Gallo as well as her new training partner Lisa Galaviz.

When talking about her own goals, specifically for the steeple on June 5th, she said, "If I see someone in front of me...well, they shouldn't be there."

I meant to ask Andrea about her entrepreneurial endeavor Delish Gourmet (http://www.delishgourmet.com/), a baking business she started. I will be sure to ask her about it on-site at the meet on June 5th!
