Play ball! These famous words are being said all over the country to note the start of the 2012 Division 1 NCAA softball season. Keeping with the traditional fastpitch season openers, the majority of our local teams are attending some very challenging tournaments.

The Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State University

This year the Kajikawa Classic is hosted by the 2011 Women’s World Series Champions and #1 ranked Sun Devils. Notable schools in attendance are Nebraska #21, Washington #12, Tennessee #14, University of Arizona #8, Texas A&M #17, Oregon #16, Stanford #9 and Cal Berkley #4. This promises to be a highly competitive tournament with rankings on the line in most match ups. The schedule and results can be found at the following link

The Texas Classic hosted by the University of Texas

The much smaller Texas Classic hosted by the #18 ranked Longhorns, hosts Cal State Fullerton, Colorado St., and University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). For all of us softball junkies some games will be televised on the Longhorn network. For schedule and results please follow this link
