Have you ever had those string of days or weeks where you can't get into a normal rhythm or stay in one place long enough to be productive? I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about and I'm glad you can relate. This has been one of those busy weeks for me and the business isn't over quite yet. As always, the first thing that seems to be scratched off the schedule during these hectic days is exercise. Guilty as charged! My excuse is that I'm moving. Again, another subject matter you can relate to. During moves it is hard to get a workout in because you are constantly packing clothes into boxes and then driving several miles (or hours in some cases) only to unload all those boxes at the new place and hit "repeat" a few more times. Hope is not all lost! I have learned a few good things this week. Here are a few:
1. I couldn't figure out which box my running stuff was in or if I left my running shoes at the new house or the old house. I also wasn't sure where my workouts tapes were and if the DVD player was set up. I was starting to stress after the first day of my missed workout. I did not want to make this a trend! But, low and behold the Nike Training Club app workout came through for me again. These are the times that I am so glad that I love my phone enough to never keep it out of sight because I had my workout in the palm of my hands. Hassle free. Excuses free.
2. You really don't need a whole lot in order to get the Nike Training Club app workouts done. This entire week I have been working out barefoot. No, I haven't caught the "minimal" running shoe epidemic; I literally couldn't find my shoes! They were either at the old house and I was at the new house or when I got to the new house they were in that heap of mess in the corner. I wasn't going to go digging for them, so I made due with what I had...the clothes on my back.
3. Packing, unpacking, sifting through collections of life's memorabilia and decorating a house is not all that much fun. Shocking, I know. It can be downright stressful! I combated this issue by turning that stress into endorphins by giving myself a 15 minute NTC mental break. It actually helped calm my nerves and allowed me to step back from the business of the move so I could actually think.
So here's the recap:
- Moving=not fun and stressful
- Nike Training Club on my phone= lots of fun and stress relieving
I am happy to say that despite the stress of the move I worked out enough to unlock a new badge! I get so excited when I know I am going to unlock another secret to a successful workout. This time my reward was a new 15-minute ab workout designed by Jeanette Jenkins, a personal trainer to the stars. I am very excited to test this new session out...in the comforts of my new home, where if I want to wear shoes while I work out, I can!
