Protein has always been an important part of my workout routine. Instead of scarfing down pasta at the pre-race pasta parties back in college, you could find me near the meatballs. Protein fills me up and makes me feel strong. Unfortunately, my protein intake has decreased significantly since my competitive days. Many times, I feel sluggish the day after a faster run, or I'm constantly hungry, rummaging through the fridge to find something to fill me up. So, I jumped at the chance to test out Muscle Milk protein drink for one week.
Muscle Milk has a great blend of protein, carbohydrates and nutrients which helps athletes recover after exercise. It comes in both chocolate and vanilla. I'll be trying both. During the week, I'll rate how it tastes and gauge how well it works at making me feel strong, full and recovered.
But, to really test out how well this protein drink works at helping me recover, I'll be putting down my running shoes and grabbing my cross trainers. I will attempt to dominate Jennifer Cohen's One Week Boot Camp. The Boot Camp includes pushups, jump squats, burpees and more. Any time you switch up your regular exercise routine you are setting yourself up for soreness. So, this challenge is going to be tough for me and Muscle Milk! But, I'm hoping the combination of fats and protein in the drink will give me the boost I'll need.
I'm a bit nervous for the camp. I've never done one before. Look (below), I'm already mentally preparing myself for the challenge ahead! If you are an avid boot camper please posts some tips for me below.
