News broke yesterday that three-time Olympic mid-distance runner Suzy Favor Hamilton had been living a secret life as an escort for the past year. Favor Hamilton, 44, used the alias, “Kelly Lundy,” to secure “dates” while working for Haley Heston’s Private Collection. She traveled to several cities around the country including Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Houston for dates and made $600 per hour/$6,000 per 24 hours.
She took to Twitter after the news came out to give fans and followers more explanation on this shocking story.

Favor Hamilton has been married to Mark Hamilton, a former Wisconsin baseball player, since 1991. The two have a 7-year-old daughter. Mark knew about her second life and tried to stop her.
"As crazy as I know it seems, I never thought I would be exposed...," Suzy continues via Twitter. However, she "cannot emphasize enough how sorry [she] is to anyone [she] has hurt."
Suzy has been and will continue to work with a psychologist. She has struggled with issues stemming from what her doctors believe as depression since childhood. Her brother suffered from bipolar disorder before taking his own life in 1999. One year later, Suzy purposely collapsed in the final stretch of the 1500m final at the Olympic games. She cited intense pressure from several avenues as cause for her display.

I am restraining from sharing my own points of view on this topic until the Women Talk Running/Women Talk Sports podcast, which will be out at the end of the month. BOY DO I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THIS ONE. To hear what I and my fantastic co-host Cara Byrd think, tune into the podcast before the new year!
In the meantime, I thought you'd enjoy a blast from the past. Suzy was my running idol in high school. I got to meet her (recently prego and all!) 2005. Time really does change some things...
