Rhonda Rajsich
Inducted in the Serbian-American Museum

Sedona, AZ - January 14, 2013 - Rhonda Rajsich the greatest American female professional racquetball player is being honored & inducted into the Serbian-American Museum St. Sava in Chicago on January 27, 2013.

Rhonda Rajsich has been playing racquetball since she was two years old.  She turned pro over a decade ago and has been the top ranking American female athlete of all time in the sport.  She is a (record) 4-time US Open Champion; 2-time World Champion, 5-time (defending) National Champion, (defending) National Doubles Champion, WPRO Grand Slam Champion, 2-time and inaugural Outdoor 3-Wall Ball Champion.

But what you did not know is that Rajsich comes from a long line of Serbian descents, her father, grandfather and beyond.   She was born and raised in the USA, but still follows the customs of her heritage, passed down by her family.  She observes Serbian Christmas, New Years, and Easter and she also attends the Serbian Church in Phoenix Arizona.

On January 27, 2013, the Museum's Slava, in observance of the Patron St. Sava Holiday, will be opening a "Sports Room" to display the successes of the Serbian-American athletes such as Pete Maravich, Jeffrey Alan Samardzija, George Francis "Doc" Medich, Gregg Popovich... and/or achievements of Serbian athletes who left their mark in North America (Vlade Divac, Vladislav Bogicevic, Bora Milutinovic...) and many others. Rajsich is one of four female athletes to received this honor and to be displayed in the museum.

"Rhonda is certainly one of the most glorious examples of Serbian/American athletes, and a person who connects Serbia and America.  Rajsich is truly an exceptional athlete and inspiring role model for many girls who would like to become like her. We are delighted to present her within the museum", said Milomir Ognjanovic, Economic Attache | Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia
