*Stacy Lewis was crowned the victor in Alabama last week at the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic while Lexi Thompson continues to make a lasting impression. Lewis finished at -17 after shooting a final round 69. Though she struggled at times through the round, Lewis was able to pull together enough to hold off Thompson who tied with Na Yeon Choi for the low round of the day with a 65. The -7 round left the 17 year old one off of the mark from pushing Lewis into a playoff. Coming off a 66 on Saturday the solo second place gave Thompson her best finish on the year. Perhaps it is something about the state of Alabama. The Navistar Classic, which is also hosted in Alabama was the site of Thompson's first LPGA victory last September.

*With four tournaments on the schedule for the LPGA in June it will be a busy month for the players. The month of May on the other hand provides plenty of time for the ladies to rest up and prepare as there is only one official LPGA tournament in the whole month. The Sybase Match Play Championship will take place May 17th-20th in Gladstone, NJ. This weekend however several players will be in Brazil to take part in the HSBC LPGA Brasil Cup, an unofficial event but one that has grown in popularity over the past few years.  It is a 36-hole event taking place in Rio de Janeiro, the same city where golf will debut as part of the 2016 Olympics games.  Mariajo Uribe is the defending champion for the tournament that is in its fourth year.

*Se Ri Pak has suffered a slight tear in the labrum of her left shoulder. It occurred when she accidently fell down a flight of stairs last week. It is unclear how much time she will be away from the game though she spoke about the injury from her home in South Korea.

"Right now, there is no timeline for my return to the LPGA, but I know the next two months of rehab will be important for my recovery," said Pak concerning her injury. "I have a positive outlook and I fully expect to return to the LPGA Tour as soon as the time is right."

Pak has had a great year up to this point having competed in five tournaments and not finishing out of the top 25 thus far. In her last two tournaments the Kia Classic and the Kraft Nabisco Championship she seemed to be gaining momentum and heading towards a win. She finished T-7 at the Kia and T-8 at the first major of the year. Pak won her 25th LPGA tournament in 2010 at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic.

*Though the 2017 U.S. Women's Open is still five years away we now know where it will be played. It was announced this week that Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. will serve as the host for the 2017 championship. The USGA made the official announcement on Thursday though the rumors have been floating around for a few weeks. This will be the first time that a national championship will be held at a course owned by Donald Trump.

*Lexi Thompson may display golf skills far beyond her years but she has recently reminded us that she is still only 17 years old. She is preparing for her prom that will take place on May 18th and is looking for the perfect guy to accompany her.  It seems that she likes guys in uniform as she has extended an invitation to all 18-20 year male military servicemen. In a YouTube video Thompson lays out her criteria for the potential dates and those interested can apply through her Facebook page or Twitter account.

"For my date, I am looking for somebody special and that I respect, that’s why I’m choosing a guy from the service." Thompson said in her video.

No doubt it will be a memorable night for both Lexi and her lucky suitor.
