Friday night at the Atlanta Thrashers game at Phillips Arena, I started to wonder what people eat in the Arena and if I could get a healthy dinner there. Despite my protein craving (after all it had been about three hours since my last meal and I was hungry), my inner love of all things chocolate dominated and my eyes fixated on this Rockslide brownie. Chocolate, pecans, chunks of chocolate and a drizzle of pure caramel ganache delight. What could be better? My friend asked me how many calories I thought this gooey dessert contained. Alas, I had no clue but I was bound and determined to find out.

According to this foodservice website: http://foodservice.sweetstreet.com/product_details/sellsheet/disp_productDetail.cfm?c=1755, the Rockslide Brownie contains 550 calories for a 4.5 oz serving (okay, way smaller than the serving size t the arena) and a whopping 35 grams of fat, 15 from saturated and 0.5 from trans fats. Again, that's for a 4.5 oz serving. I'm willing to bet the one they served there was twice that size.

Now you are probably wondering if I ate it - nope. One look and I pretty much knew it had man made artery-clogging, belly-fat boosting trans fats in it - one thing that I hope never crosses my lips again. So I continued racking up some steps walking through the arena in favor of good healthy food. Is it available? Yes indeed - especially on the club level. But, you do have to weed through an array of mouth-watering desserts, bypass the smell of candy-coated nuts and mocha lattes to find something figure-flattering and athletic performance enhancing foods for for an athlete.
