Twitter Contest & Rocktape Give Away
Womentalksports and Rocktape have teamed up to give you a chance to try out Rocktape for yourself. From now to the closing ceremonies (August 7th to August 12th at 6:00 PM CST), we want to hear on Twitter or on this Facebook post how the Olympics are inspiring you to your “gold standard”. You could win the Rocktape kit (description below). Tweet at us (@womentalksports) with your answer and tag it with #rocktape. That gives you 114 characters. Only one entry per person (and if we find out you are using multiple accounts your entry will not count). Entries will be judged by impartial jury and the best will win the Rocktape kit. Find out more about Rocktape below!

Have you seen it? The brightly colored tape peaking out from underneath athlete's uniforms during the Olympic Games? For most athletes this tape has nothing to do with injury and is a legal way to enhance performance by increasing blood flow and helping to engage certain muscle groups during competition and recovery.
Kinesiology tape has been increasingly used over the past few years to treat, prevent and rehab common sports related injuries including shin splints, IT band, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon, runner¹s knee and back pain.
However, most Olympic athletes are not competing while injured and are in fact using kinesiology tape to legally enhance their performance. Using specific taping techniques can provide proprioceptive queuing (increase athletic form), reduce edema, correct biomechanical dysfunction, aid muscle activation, increase range of motion, promote postural control (for performance) and speed up recovery.
According to the scientists behind Rocktape (www.rocktape.com), when applied properly kinesiology lifts the skin away from the muscle, which promotes blood flow and relieves pressure on pain receptors located just below the skin. Faster blood flow means more oxygen and more lymph drainage, which helps performance. In the case of injury, kinesiology tape can be used to stabilize and encourage proper muscle activation patterns without reducing range of motion.
Your favorite Olympians may look like a Picasso painting adorned in colorful tape from head to toe, but this look certainly is not a sign of weakness or of a lesser chance to make the podium, rather it is a sign that the athletes are taking every advantage possible to give them the edge in the most important competition of their lives.
Rocktape Kit

Rocktape (www.rocktape.com) is a thin, stretchy hi-tech athletic tape that can be used to treat a wide variety of sports injuries such as shin splints, IT band, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendon, runner¹s knee and a host of others. It is the "Gold Standard" in Kinesiology Tape. It also can enhance performance by bringing blood flow to the taped area and creating muscle stability.
Rock Sauce is the only topical pain reliever designed to work with kinesiology tape. It can be applied directly to the surface of Rocktape or used on its own. It is perfect for joint and muscle soreness and for Pre-workout warm ups. Personally, I've become a little addicted to this product as it really does warm up the muscles.
pHast Legs uses a unique set of minerals to create the ultimate alkalizing agent that works fast and is easy on the stomach. pHast Legs clears lactic acid and other waste build up (from our food, environment and workouts) from our body to speed up recovery and promote performance. The following link includes excerpts to clinical studies that show how pHast Legs can increase power by 5% in 7 days: http://rocktape.com/products-magic-pills/
