Richard Fox Slams ICF for Delaying Women's Canoe Inclusion Until Tokyo2020

"...high level female athletes continue to be significantly restricted in their access to canoeing events in the Olympic Games relative to men and will have to wait another seven years to see any change....The change is inevitable and anticipated and long overdue. The extended exclusion of female athletes from canoeing events in Rio 2016, however, is not something that can be overlooked in the way the ICF article or the accompanying celebratory photograph implies."

This is clearly an above quota proposal - above current IOC caps on events and athletes. The fact that the ICF displayed a photo of World C1 Slalom Canoe Champion Jessica Fox in her kayak (rather than her canoe - something she is passionate about) and their original press release had only Women's Canoe Slalom in the title tells us they do not really know what they are doing and care not how they are representing an athlete who has been outspoken for women's canoe inclusion.

To use Jessica Fox in her kayak, celebrating, is rather disingenuous and not reflective of how she feels about this announcement and disrespectful to her as World C1 Champion and Champion for equal opportunities and access for female canoeists.

The ICF's slogan is "Always Moving Forward". Is this really their strategy or just a pithy slogan to differentiate Olympic Canoe/Kayak from Olympic Rowing?
