This morning, in an interview with the Today Show’s Matt Lauer, Kerri Walsh Jennings and her husband Casey confirmed that Kerri is 11 weeks pregnant with their third child. On it’s own this news would not be that extraordinary. It’s when you count back and realize that she was 5 weeks pregnant when she and her partner Misty May-Treanor won their third consecutive gold medal in beach volleyball that it becomes extraordinary.
Walsh Jennings revealed to Lauer that she and husband Casey had spent time in Switzerland a month prior to the London games and decided to start trying for their third child, never imagining that it would happen so fast. Walsh embarrassingly admitted, “apparently we’re very fertile.”
While in London Walsh Jennings admitted to feeling moodier than usual and upon realizing she was “late” put the pieces together. “When I was throwing my body around fearlessly, and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant, and today I’m 11 weeks pregnant,” she told Matt Lauer.
