Martina Hingis to launch apparel line with Tonic Tennis

Former tennis stars are utilizing the latest Grand Slam to showcase their upcoming fashion ventures. John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg held a press conference in London revealing their plans to collaborate on a collection of underwear. Now 5-time Grand Slam singles champion, Martina Hingis, announced today from Wimbledon that she has partnered with Tonic to create a full tennis line called “Tonic Tennis by Martina Hingis.”

According to the Tonic website: “Martina was struck by the softness and unique look of Tonic active wear. After wearing them for the first time at an exhibition match at Wimbledon in 2010, Martina approached the company with the idea of launching a tennis collection. The outcome of this collaboration is a technical line which brings fashion back into tennis wear, respecting the customs rooted in sport history.”

“When you go out and play tennis, you want to feel nice. You want to feel like a woman and know that the clothes won’t let you down. What’s so great about this line is its versatility and comfort, making it wearable from the club to professional level,” says Hingis.

The collection won’t be available until Spring 2012, but you can get a quick sneak peak in the video below during one of her practices:
